Just outside Caernarfon’s town centre on A487, the Hwylfan Fun Centre can be a Mecca for parents with energetic children, especially if the weather is bad. A large church has been transformed into a 14,000 square foot playground for kids of all ages, plus an interactive museum tracing the history of the old Christchurch.
The Fun Centre features a marvellous array of enticements in a safe, supervised environment. The layout includes two amazingly tall drop slides which are 25 feet from top to bottom, as well as rope bridges, ball pools, climbing walls, tubes and a dark maze. There is a kid-enthralling Laser Space Sport arena where they can shoot at targets and match ability and agility with friends and opponents.
On the upper level is an oval track (Gog the Friendly Dragon is driving instructor) where kids can climb into mini-vehicles ranging from Ferraris to American pickups and try out their driving skills.
The Fun Centre has won several awards as a family attraction in North Wales, and it is highly rated by travellers. Parents may be happy for the chance to relax while the kids work off all that kid-energy.
The facilities include a fully licensed restaurant and outdoor patio area where adults can sit back and watch. Children’s parties are a specialty, with organizing staff and hot or cold food, drinks and of course the whole play area to enjoy.
The entire facility is for hire to groups and organizations, making it an ideal spot for meetings, conferences etc. of organisations whose members may have difficulty arranging child care.
Parties for adults are another great idea, as the Fun Centre can be reserved as a package; partygoers can enjoy a good hot meal or cold buffet and beverage of choice, and also have the freedom of the play area all to themselves. In fact the slides can be polished for a faster ride and the go-carts can be speeded up!
